Enhance your Shabbat bread with this Judaica accessory

Why do we eat hallah on Shabbat and the Jewish holidays?

The first mention of Shabbat Hallot comes from the Torah, when the Hebrew people wandered in the desert and gathered manna, which fell from heaven by the action of the Lord. On Fridays, they were commanded to bring a double portion so as not to gather manna on Shabbat. It is to remember this biblical episode that Jews make blessings and eat hallah every Shabbat and Yom Tov.

It is customary to cover the hallah during kiddush. Since bread is considered the most important food, normally if we have both wine and bread in front of us and plan to eat both, we recite the bracha over the bread first. But for the kiddush, the brakha on the wine must be done first. To avoid giving “incorrect” priority to the wine, we cover the challah.

To perform this mitzvah in the best way, it is best to use a bread cover specially dedicated to Shabbat and Jewish holidays.

It can be used on Shabbat and Yom Tov.
