What’s a Shoffar?
According to Jewish tradition, a shoffar is made from the horn of a ram or other kosher animal. It has been used since biblical times to announce the New Moon (Rosh Hodesh) and to call people together. It is also used during Rosh Hashanah, to mark the beginning of the New Year, signifying both the need to wake up and the call to repentance.
Today, the shofar is one of the symbols of the Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services in the synagogue. It is a commandment to hear the shoffar on these occasions. A jewish tradition perpetuated for centuries.
The shoffar is accessible to all and even to children who can practice sounding it on one of our kosher models, made in Israel. Today, there is a large collection of shofars, from the simplest to the most elaborate.
