History of this Israeli symbol
The flag of the State of Israel consists of two blue stripes on a white background and a Star of David (in Hebrew: Magen David) in the center. This design was first displayed in Rishon-LeZion in 1885 and was also used at the first Zionist Congress in 1897. According to Jewish tradition, it was inspired by the talith (the blue-striped prayer shawl worn by Jews during prayer) as a symbol. The Star of David has been a prominent symbol of the people of Israel since biblical times. The flag was officially adopted on October 28, 1948 (25 Tishri, 5709) by the President of the Provisional State Council.
It is an indispensable accessory for all those who are committed to the Land of Israel and the renewal of the Jewish people.
