Why the Jewish religion recommends rinsing your hands at the end of a meal
In the Jewish tradition, many observant people have the habit, at the end of a meal and before starting the Birkat Hamazon to perform the Jewish prayer of mayim aharonim. This consists of pouring a little water on the tips of the fingers up to the joints. You have probably seen the beautiful sets of silver bowls and cups that are used for this. There are different kinds: silver, aluminum, melamine, glass.
Some are decorated with motifs of the Old City of Jerusalem: the Kotel, the walls, the City of David, the synagogues. Others bear inscriptions in Hebrew: מים אחרונים for example.
This Judaica accessory will therefore be quite useful throughout the day: on Shabbat, Yom Tov and other Jewish ceremonies.
