What is the Jewish blessing travel?
The traveler’s prayer – or Tefilat Haderech in Hebrew – is a prayer said at the beginning of a journey. It is customary to recite it when embarking on a long journey, regardless of the mode of transportation. The prayer asks G-d to keep the traveler safe, to protect him from any danger or peril he may encounter along the way, and to make him peaceful.
Traditionally, the prayer is recited after the journey begins. Some rabbis say that it should be said after leaving the city limits.
